The health department further said that several people had contracted a fever in Belsar village of Purandar tehsil in early July. Samples of 5 of them were collected and sent to the National Institute of Virology (NIV) in Pune. Chikungunya was found in 3 samples. Shortly afterward, a team from NIV went to the village of Belsar and the surrounding area. The team collected blood samples from 41 people. The tests showed that 25 people were infected with Chikungunya, 3 with dengue, and 1 with the #Zika virus.


The Pune district administration has advised the general public not to worry about #Zika virus infection. The administration is keeping an eye on the virus so that it does not spread. Not only that, but they are also talking to the locals about the steps that need to be taken to prevent this infection.


The first reports of #Zika virus infection came from Kerala this year. There are 63 people infected with the virus. After that, #Zika infection was detected in Maharashtra.
